I will be starting work with G. Communications after Goldenweek. I'm interested to know what your experience has been of them so far.
I heard some horror stories of people from NOVA being offered jobs, but then having those offers suddenly retracted. Is that likely to happen again?

I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen again. When G.communication took over NOVA they initially decided they needed something like one teacher for every forty students, and then one teacher for every sixty students, then one teacher for every one hundred students, and so on... I believe the current thinking is that schools need to be averaging at least three students in every class, and if they don't then teachers who are deemed surplus to requirements are offered the choice of transferring to busier locations or being fired. If student numbers at GEOS schools are low and/or falling, then GEOS teachers could well be finding themselves being asked to make the same choice. G.communication has also slashed the salaries of NOVA teachers who were earning more than ￥300,000, so there could be some unpleasant surprises in store for well-paid GEOS teachers who decide to renew their contracts.
